Hi, I’m Dave Shinsel
You can contact me at: shinsel <dot> robots <at> gmail <dot> com (trying to avoid spam)
But, if you have a question about robots, I prefer you enter it in one of my Blogs, or on YouTube (so others can benefit, as they may have a similar question).
I manage the Intel(r) Graphics Performance Analyzers software team at Intel Corporation, but I build robots as a hobby to keep my hand in on writing software and building hardware (and because it’s fun!)
I have worked on a variety of interesting projects, including; the Intel TeraFlops Super Computer, Intel Streaming Media, Intel Video Phone, Vivonic Fitness Trainer (hand-held fitness device), Intel Create&Share, GPRS Wireless, and Graphics, and I managed the team that co-wrote the graphics driver with Apple for the first MacBook Air.
Prior to working at Intel, I have worked at Hughes Aircraft, Epson America, Mentor Graphics, and a couple of small start-ups. I have a degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from Cal State Long Beach.
Hey, DAVE! Long time no see. Can i still email you personally as I have always done?
I like your new website. Hey! do you work with Johnny Lee?
Mel
Hi, I really like your robots, I discovered them through your videos on YouTube. I was curious about your robot Loki so I googled a to find your website (ProTip: Pop a link in the description for lazy people). You should embed your videos in your posts, or link to them. They are a lot cooler than the photos! Loki’s doing cool useful robot stuff, he’s like a cross between Johnny 5 and Wall-E in your latest video of him picking up litter!
I look forward to the day when every kid can build their own robot sidekick like Loki and upgrade them perpetually! There is always a theory…
You so got that right. I was thinking the same way as you!!
Dear Dave,
Proper Television is developing a new series about Makers—people with an intense passion for building all manner of contraptions for all manner of purposes. We’re currently in the midst of casting characters for the series, and have been reaching out to individuals like you in an effort to build a Dream Team of Makers.
Without belabouring the details, the series will revolve around our team of Makers facing off against other groups in maker-related competitions. Competitions like:
-Modifying a lawnmower into a 70mph drag racer
-Designing catapults to hurl pumpkins across football fields
-Constructing Rube Goldberg machines
-Building human-powered submarines
Our goal is to find multifaceted individuals with aptitude in numerous fields pertinent to these sorts of projects. People with experience in things like engineering, electronics, physics, welding, pyrotechnics, construction, engines and industrial design—these are the sorts we’re looking to get in touch with.
Is the sort of thing that might interest you? If not, would you be willing to pass the word on to anyone you think would be right for the show?
Thank you for your time, and keep up the fantastic work!

how much you selling your robots for.
Hi Dave! My name is Simon and this is my first time visiting your site. Loki is quite an amazing robot. I was just wondering if you could help me and give me a list of all materials that I would need to build such a robot.
I want to buy loki . ill pay 400 dollars for him.Working and everything. I was going to build my own but its to complicaded. Thanks
Sorry, Loki is not for sale
besides, Loki is a work on progress; you’d need to understand him to maintain and grow him.
But, be patient. Start with a smaller robot and work your way up. The real reward is in the learning process.
Thats a good point, Dave. but I know this. One day, Loki is gonna be the smartest robot any human will ever see!!
HaHa! Thanks, Laura!
I just wish I had more time to work on him!
